Forgive me for I have sinned…I went and paid money to see Run All Night. And you know it was not all that bad for a 2 hour long commercial pitch for handguns.

The movie is very well made and has a great cast. Liam is his usual, gun toting self. I think at one point he must have had several guns in his possession. Good for him.

Liam plays the part of a washed up mob hitman who likes guns, keeping them hidden and within reach all over the place. It’s as if every time he’s in trouble, he has a gun or gets one from a convenient hiding place.

Is this a great country or what?

gun_all_night_ver2Anyway, Liam used to work for Ed Harris, the mob boss, and his son (Joel Kinnaman) has a bad day. So bad a day that Liam and the kid end up running from Mob Boss Ed to great effect. There’s car chases, shootouts, family loyalty, shootouts, a drunk Santa…this films got everything. Did I mention there’s a lot of gunplay in this one?

Who ever said violence never solved anything?

I did not recognize Common, which is both good and bad. Moby has found Common to be a bit ‘wooden’ in past roles, but he does a great job in this one. He plays the role of a hired gun, tasked with hunting down Liam and son for the mob boss. There’s a really good fight scene between Liam and Common in a burning building. He also uses a gun with a laser on it. Neato.

The film keeps you interested and many of the scenes stand on their own. The director does a great job of establishing the relationships between the characters without seeming cheesy. It all works very well.
