Of course you’ve seen this guy. My personal favorite French import. My picks for tonight star Jean Reno , known to Americans as that guy from Godzilla, that guy from The Pink Panther , and Leon.

Reno was born in Casablanca, Morocco. He was lucky to meet and collaborate with Luc Besson early in each others careers, and was in Luc’s first movie. Nicolas Sarkozy, the French President, was the Best Man at his freakin’ wedding. And, he’s got range. Just take a look at tonight’s recommendations: There’s action, comedy, romance, drama….he’s like the everyman of France, a french Tom Hanks who can also pull off an action role. Yeah, that’s it. The Baroness waits....

The Baroness waits….(click for larger view)

Issue 5This is the first page from G.I. Joe: Cobra Civil War #5 by Javier Saltares and inked by Chris Ivy. It is a published original, fully inked splash-page for IDW Comics on 11″ x 17″ Bristol Board.

This issue starts with a covert meeting between the Baroness and Zartan on the streets of Paris. This page is penciled with incredible detail and the inks are fantastic. Just look at all that Zip-a-Tone! Just incredible detail.

Moby has one other from Salteres from this title, a half splash.

Not for sale.

Of course you’ve seen this guy. You probably remember him from his role as Sloth in ‘The Goonies‘. During the early to mid ’80’s, ‘The Tooz’ had a good run as second and third banana in several comedies. Several memorable comedies.

Standing 6’8″, 280 lbs, John Matuszak was the No. 1 pick in the 1973 NFL draft, going to the Houston Oilers out of the University of Tampa. Known for playing hard on the field, and off, he won two Super Bowls with the Oakland Raiders under legendary coach John Madden before moving to Hollywood to pursue acting. He was a generous person, especially working with disabled children, but his charity was overshadowed by his ‘life in the fast lane’ lifestyle. Continue reading »

I found Katie using Pandora, and her first album, ‘Changing Faces’, just hit it out of the park. So much indie music is slow, melancholic and plodding. Not to say they suck, but it does seem too many ‘indie’ albums are ‘indie’ because they are just too pedestrian and not really ‘poppy’ enough to make it on the radio, for instance.

The offerings on Katie’s first album avoid such a label as ‘pedestrian’ by being upbeat and having great hooks and choruses. This album showcases Katie’s use of the piano for more than just slow songs, and her pop/rock compositions have been used in movies, television, and opening themes of all stripes. Continue reading »
