I just found all 6 pages (and cover) from this project by Alan Moorefield on his Facebook page, complete with lettering. It’s was posted a while back, but still deserves a post.

I picked up one of the originals (a panel page) from this project on eBay, but had no idea how many there were or what the context was at the time. I bought the page mainly because I found the level of detail a bit stunning and, well, after all it was Batman. Truth be told, I was quite lucky to snag the page when I did.

In his gallery post he mentions that this Batman project grew from the opening splash (which is not in my collection) being the most popular page of all his comic artwork, and it’s easy to see why.

Take a look:

Splash

Apparently he drew the cover and the other 5 pages around this splash. Again, the details and backgrounds on this are just fantastic.

Lady MastermindI have a couple of pieces by Alan Moorefield and only one of them is from this Batman project. The other piece by Alan I have collected is to the left there,  a pin-up of Lady Mastermind, a villainess from Marvel’s X-Men.  I admit that Alan’s work is sometimes hit or miss, but he has put some great stuff out there.

Alan did three Cloak and Dagger pin-ups, two characters which I have liked for a long time, and those caught my eye and put him on my radar. You see, Rick Leonardi used to pencil Cloak and Dagger (and later Spider-Man 2099), and Leonardi’s work was some of the first that I learned to appreciate for it’s style. So Rick’s art led me to Cloak and Dagger, and eventually that led me to Alan.

You can download the project with and without lettering as a .cbr file here, but please be sure to head over to his Facebook page and give him a shout, it really helps. Judging from some posts on his Facebook page he seems to be working on drawing faster without losing quality, so it seems that Alan obviously would like to work full-time in comics, and I do hope he get’s a shot.

While your poking around his Facebook galleries, make sure to check out his 3 page New Mutants sample he did. It features a shapeshifter changing into Iron Man, Mike Tyson, Optimus Prime, Mario Cart Mario and more. It’s is a fun 3 pages.

He has many pieces up at CAF (comicartfans) and sometimes posts his stuff for sale on eBay as well. He is currently working on an idie book for Unibrow studios, and I will of course update when that gets released.
